It's alive!!! Yes,
The Audacity of Obama, an official RNC podcast, is now live and available for download. What is it? As the official description on the RNC front page says, "
It’s getting tough to keep track of Barack Obama’s ever-changing policy stances during this presidential race. That’s why the Republican National Committee is presenting The Audacity of Obama, a podcast series dedicated to presenting each and every one of the Illinois Freshman Senator’s positions on the issues voters care about. Written and hosted by Stefan Claypool. Produced and engineered by Stephen Bell."
That's right folks, I'm now the voice of the RNC podcast. To subscribe, click on the elephant iPod. I encourage you to do it, so that you can hear my smooth, mellifluous tone on a regular basis. Hope you enjoy.
Work on the podcast took up most of my day. The rest, as you might imagine, dealt with the fallout of the Supreme Court's 5-4 ruling that the right to bear arms is the right of individual American citizens in the case of
DC v. Heller. You won't be surprised to hear that I'm thrilled with the decision, which is a fine example of the Court taking a strict constructionist view of the Constitution. Antonin Scalia wrote the majority opinion, and in characteristics fashion, did a spectacular job.
John Podhoretz at
Contentions has a fine piece up on Scalia's technical approach to the debate. Regardless of what one thinks of him as a Justice (and I only wish we could have a few more like him), one has to admire Scalia's intellect and respect him as one of the nation's foremost Constitutional scholar.
The inaugural episode of
The Audacity of Obama deals with the Court's ruling. Specifically, it examines Obama's opinion on gun laws in this country dating back to his days as an Illinois State legislator. Give it a listen.
