Day 29 - 6/22/08

I'd like to start this post by encouraging all of you to go to Facebook and join the the official Middlebury Radio Theater of Thrills and Suspense Fan Page, because we're awesome, and we appreciate your support.

Today was a pleasantly relaxing day. I woke up late, which was in and of itself a nice change of pace, and then headed down to Starbucks, where I had a cup of coffee and read about a hundred pages of John McCain's Faith of My Fathers. I was familiar with the rough details of the Senator's life before - he was a POW, son of a military family - but so far the book is absolutely fascinating. I think the thing that I find most interesting thus far how candid McCain is about his youth. He's clearly not proud of a lot of what he did, but throughout the piece you can really see him grow as a human being. He's changed for the better, and viewing the arc of his life as a whole, I find that admirable.

After coffee and reading, I headed down to Chinatown, walked around for a bit, and then went into a pub, had a nice late lunch/early dinner and a couple of beers, and then headed back to Georgetown. Following typical weekend patterns, the primary activity of the day did seem to be walking, but I'm not about to complain about that. The evening has primarily consisted of kicking back, web-cruising, and watching Lost at ABC's site. No strenuous activity, and I'll be getting to be early. Tomorrow morning we RNC interns get to have breakfast with Karl Rove, so I have to get to work earlier than usual. I'll be sure to write about that tomorrow, but until then, 再见.
