Gearing up
I received a note today from Stu Box of Box Guitars; the guitar has left Australia and I should have it in a few days. Very cool.
This evening I ordered a new MacBook Pro. My PowerBook G4 will be five years old in December, not bad considering I just recorded a full album over the last 16 months! But it's begun to feel a little more sluggish all the time. It's time for an upgrade and upgrade I shall have. The new box is a 15" 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB memory, 320 GB 7200 rpm hard drive, etc. In other words, a screamer. I'll be adding a 24" LED Cinema Display upon release in November and the studio hardware will be ready to go. I'll also be ordering a couple of pieces of software in the next few days.
I've got some work to do between now and delivery, cleaning up software off of this machine to make for a smooth conversion from the PowerPC to Intel environments. Much will be de-install-from-this-machine / reinstall-on-that-machine activity. Different vendors have different approaches to authentication so understanding the details is the order of the day.
Marketing work continues on One Feather Shy, as it should, but the muse, she is a calling. Following the recording of One Feather Shy it was as if I had exorcised the sounds and songs that hadn't left my head for years. I threw myself into mixing, mastering, and a million details surrounding the release and all was silent. Well, over the last couple of weeks it is apparent that the muse is back. The only cure is to write, arrange, record, rinse and repeat. And that's okay. Time to get back to work.
So, we're gearing up for our next Clayphonic adventure.
