Batch 82 - Hearty Barley Wine Ale

Ingredients (2.5 gallons)

7 lbs. Pale Ale Malt
0.5 lb. 60L Crystal Malt
3.5 lbs. Munton & Fison Light Malt Extract
2 oz. Goldings Hops Pellets (5.0A) boiling
2 oz. Fuggles Hops Pellets (3.6) boiling
0.5 oz. Goldings Hops Pellets (5.0A) flavor
1 tsp Irish Moss
1 pkg. Wyeast #1056 American Ale liquid yeast
4.75 gallons Filtered tap water
1 gallons Distilled water

Estimated HBU's - 19 (7.60 per gallon)

O.G.: 1.115
F.G.: 1.031

Grain mix to 9.375 quarts filtered tap water at 170 degrees F.
Keep at around 153 degrees F for 90 minutes.
Strain grains and sparge with 10 quarts 168 degrees F filtered tap water and add to boiling pot until 3 gallons of wort are captured.
Boil down to 2.5 gallons.
Add extracts and boiling hops for 60 minutes.
Add Irish Moss at 45 minutes.
Add flavor hops at 45 minutes.
At 60 minutes cool and add to 1.25 gallons chilled distilled water in fermenter.
Pitched yeast at 66 degrees.
